About

Preventing, Restoring, Building, Uniting, Sustaining. As we grow, we learn and we act to empower those we work with in Thailand and Burma.

Openaid started in Melbourne, Australia, founded by our Executive Director Justin Whitecross in 2002. Openaid envisions a community of people creating responses to both reduce the poverty and exploitation of girls from poor families, and to lessen the long term damage to trafficked and abused girls.

Field office underway in Nakhon Phanom on Mekong River

It has been a big undertaking, but we’ve done it! The new field office on the Laos border is open and underway. Starting this week, Krit will supervise project work and staff recruitment on the border with Laos from the office in Nakhon Phanom.

I am very excited about the strategic direction and structural changes. We plan to call 2 new capable workers to work from Nakhom Phanom during the next 6 to 10 weeks. Workers will nurture dialogue and relationships with communities along the Mekong, particularly focusing on community-driven initiatives to tackle poverty related issues and vulnerablity of girls.

Exciting days at Openaid!

Justin
