Looking for like-minded people to raise funds to support girls like Aom

We look for people to join with us - putting our heads together to raise funds to run community-driven projects.
Thousands of young girls and women from Burma, Laos and Cambodia are brought into the northeastern regions of Thailand every year to support the country’s flourishing prostitution trade. This number continues to increase every year. Thailand’s tourism industry experienced major growth in the 90s to become Thailand’s major source of foreign exchange. A factor largely contributing to this is Thailand’s image among tourists as a “sexual paradise” - making it one of the top destinations for sex tourism.
While commercial and sexual exploitation is a widespread problem throughout the world, it is particularly severe in Thailand, which is both a transit point and major destination for women and children trafficked in the region. In recent years, child trafficking in South-East Asia has emerged as a major human rights issue. Given the failure of the Thai government to address the problem of trafficking by enforcing its own laws, NGOs such as Openaid have acted significantly in relation to the girls most vulnerable to trafficking and abuse.
Openaid’s approach is distinctive and we realise that putting our heads together and collaborating with like-minded people will connects people and opens opportunities to nurture significant change. We believe in the power of dialogue and relationships to effecting transformation of societies.
Openaid offers a unique and grassroots approach to tackling the problems of poverty and exploitation of young girls and women.
