Monday 12 June - Nakhon Phanom, Mekong River
Planning meeting with leaders in Baan Pak Toui Village.
We have very good friendship with communities along the Mekong River. We work with villages and schools to nurture community driven responses, targeting girls like Duen and her family.
Poor families suffer from the lack of work and very low wages. Houses reflect the poverty of the inhabitants. Duen’s father is disabled and her family is extremely poor. We are working with the family to develop livelihood options, keep Duen and her sister in school, and re-house the family.
Duen’s family desperately needs a new house. House-building projects are often included in our community development strategy. Is prostitution the future for Duen and other very poor children who live in rubbish and desperately need a decent home.
We need sponsors to help produce long term outcomes. We are doing our best to give villagers and girls like Duen and her family a decent life.
