About

Preventing, Restoring, Building, Uniting, Sustaining. As we grow, we learn and we act to empower those we work with in Thailand and Burma.

Openaid started in Melbourne, Australia, founded by our Executive Director Justin Whitecross in 2002. Openaid envisions a community of people creating responses to both reduce the poverty and exploitation of girls from poor families, and to lessen the long term damage to trafficked and abused girls.

We love the program at Wangadua school - the students have successfully harvested twice and the next crop is being prepared and organised for planting. The first activity supported 3 girls and now the mushroom farm will support 6 girls. We expect the activity to generate sufficient funds p/term to support basic needs: food, petrol for motorcycles (transport to school), clothes, mosquito nets, and clothing. Openaid staff spend several hours with the children every 3 or 4 weeks, and continue to nurture opportunities to establish dialogue and networking with other villagers.
