About

Preventing, Restoring, Building, Uniting, Sustaining. As we grow, we learn and we act to empower those we work with in Thailand and Burma.

Openaid started in Melbourne, Australia, founded by our Executive Director Justin Whitecross in 2002. Openaid envisions a community of people creating responses to both reduce the poverty and exploitation of girls from poor families, and to lessen the long term damage to trafficked and abused girls.

Making a choice

Everyday, we’re faced with choices. Choices on what to do with our time, our money, and what to fill our stomachs…and the list goes on. In fact, we have so many choices that sometimes, we take things for granted. I know i do.

For Sao and her family ~ they too, are faced with many choices. How to spend their limited funds, what to give up? Is education essential when starvation and poverty are very close possibilities?

Help us make their choices easier.
Help us expand their choices.
Help us instill a sustainable plan to raise the education level in the poorer regions in South East Asia.
Help us help Sao stay on the path of attaining a basic education.

Before I start my work today, I said my daily gratitudes to the powers-to-be for this beautiful day in Melbourne; for the simple providence that I’ve been blessed with despite my lack of resources and for the chance to be a part of OpenAid’s work (even though i’ve barely started and am still finding my footing.)

Have a great Monday, all.
