About

Preventing, Restoring, Building, Uniting, Sustaining. As we grow, we learn and we act to empower those we work with in Thailand and Burma.

Openaid started in Melbourne, Australia, founded by our Executive Director Justin Whitecross in 2002. Openaid envisions a community of people creating responses to both reduce the poverty and exploitation of girls from poor families, and to lessen the long term damage to trafficked and abused girls.

Setting up a team in Thailand

We face many challenges setting up a team in Thailand with the necessary skills, knowledge and experience to work effectively. To bring social and material transformation to thousands in poverty requires careful investments in people, empowering them to build their own communities.

We are looking for people willing to help us train and develop families and communities to break out of poverty and tackle issues like trafficking and abuse.

Team members will work alongside schools and community leaders. The results include programs being set up to help mothers develop income and skills to keep their daughters in school and educated about HIV, drugs and prostitution.

It’s almost impossible for outsiders to reach these communities in northeast Thailand. We are trying to set up a team - gather together the skills and knowledge - to work with these communities and their daughters.
